Knoxville Motor Company is locally owned and has been in business since 1915, when the company was incorporated as a franchise dealer for Jefferies automobiles. The original business was located in a field at the north end of Gay Street in downtown Knoxville.
The Mercedes-Benz franchise was added in 1962. As an exclusive Mercedes-Benz dealer, Knoxville Motor Company moved to 4835 Kingston Pike, adding the Saab franchise in 1974. In 1981, a major ownership and management change took place, while the location of the dealership remained the same. In 1983, the Saab franchise was sold, and Knoxville Motor Company was again an exclusive Mercedes-Benz franchise.
Knoxville Motor Company, as a Mercedes-Benz franchise moved to its present location, 10131 Parkside Drive, in 1997. The name Knoxville Motor Company was changed to Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville in 1999, as part of Mercedes-Benz of North America’s quest to unify names of franchise dealers. In 2008, the Mercedes-Benz product smart was added as smart center Knoxville. Then in 2014, Sprinter was added at Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville.
Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville expanded its collision repair capabilities in November 2023 due to overwhelming growth and demand. The launch of Knoxville Motor Company BodyWerks created the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art body shop in the region. We strongly believe we offer the best collision center in Knoxville, TN.
